Safehho review Hydrogen Assist Technology

This page at www.phact.org/e/safehho.htm This page will contain the test information and discussion and links to a web forum and email list on the subject

Sean Drazin is the owner of the company, Hydrogen Assist Development. I've been doing free evaluations for– his company web page is at www.safehho.com

Note: I started all this as a results of seeing a test in Ohio of my own design I saw around an 80 mile run get 36mpg on a Buick Century with 4 passengers followed by much lower mileage with the boost off.  It was at least good enough information for me to take the time to install a free kit from Sean on my own small car. (note, since that time, I've concluded you just can't trust pump shut off for accurate mileage tests – the real test needed for any kind of accuracy is multiple tank loads – or hundreds of miles) Sean that night gave me a unit I installed on my own car. After my mileage was not that great, Sean came by with Scott and reinstalled it. Sean has said I didn't do the install right and there have been times I have not properly kept up with the maintenance. The mileage appeared better than I had before on short tests but didn't seem that impressive still. Sean and Dustin then teamed up and loaded my car on a trailer, took it up to Vermont, took it back and the tests really seemed impressive - low 40's and high 30s when I previously had never seen over 33mpg. This was still on shorter tests. Some more ardent skeptics claimed this increase must have been from Dustin installing an EIFI hidden in my car – I searched everywhere and there was none. They also said that Dustin could have reprogrammed my car computer to be more lean. I doubt this happened, but I can't know for absolute sure. I had a problem trying to use regular driving for my tests - before a long day of highway driving, I would top off for the highway data to be kept separate. This meant having too low miles runs for accuracy as I was learning the pump would seem to click off at unpredictable times Sean said from what I was describing that I wasn't maintaining the system properly - I was worried it was taking too much KOH. I then ran into some lower mileage runs - so the three of us agreed I should do 3 full tank loads with it off and 3 full with it on with any kind of mileage. The mileage for the first 3 tank loads (around 280 miles) were 33, 33 and over 30 - admittedly, those miles ended up being mostly highway. There was some disagreement between us about amounts of KOH to keep adding in. But during the next 3 tank loads, the mileage dropped to 28 and I noticed a lot of black particulate matter (I think Titanium) in the water tank - I concluded at that point, the system was lowering my mileage. Since then, I've had it off to reestablish what the baseline is. I saw good enough results for a while to make it worth my effort to take up Sean's offer to come by and install another cell which will be run with a different water solution. (Sean had said I was maintaining it wrong), but I think this contributed to early damage of the plates as evidenced by black corroded material in the water tank. As of 11/6/9, I am waiting to get a new cell and a new acidic fluid to use for another round of tests.

Following is test data that includes 2 different cells and a number of adjustment efforts along the way:

day distance gallons mileage type notes

9/5/9 144.6 5.732 25 city baseline boost off

9/5/9 66.4 1.813 36 hwy boost on

9/9/9 273.3 7.279 31.6 mix boost on

9/12/9 50 2.198 22 city

9/13/9 279.2 8.385 33.27 hwy boost off

9/16/9 114.7 3.951 29 city boost off

9/17/9 61.8 1.732

9/25/9 52.1 1.264 41 city boost on -test done with Sean and Dustin

9/26/9 52.1 1.264 41. city boost on

9/26/9 70.2 1.67 42 hwy boost on 1 passenger, - engine light came on before starting this test

9/27/9 61.2 2.24 27 city

9/27/9 187.9 5.179 36.3 most hwy boost on (noted that water level had been low

9/27/9 113.4 2.896 39 hwy boost on (note, the following mileage is poor - likely pump accuracy)

9/29/9 169.5 4.908 34.5 hwy boost on

9/29/9 62 2.655 23 city boost on (note, was likely pump accuracy from run before)

10/3/9 139.7 5.479 25.5 mix boost on

10/3/9 73 1.986 33.75 hwy boost on

10/6/9 106.7 2.257 47.27 hwy boost on - , the pump didn't seem to click off correctly - can't count this re topped off later

Note: at this point, we decided to use longer tests

10/10 284.8 8.601 33.1 mix no boost - high way was at 70 .

10/13 295.4 8.87 33.3 mix no boost (forgot to zero trip odometer afterwards) - highway part was often over 70

10/17 287.2 9.493 30.2 mix no boost

10/18 300.2 9.339 32 mix boost on (may have not had water levels right) -

10/25/9 236.4 8.74 26.6 mix boost on

10/30/9 254.3 9.123 28 mix boost on (note, the final test with boost on was over 250 miles and only around 28 mpg

again –Until Sean threatened to sue me over this page, I had planned on doing another test on a new unit he shipped me. I did give Sean engineering ideas on improving his device and doing life tests of devices. I think anyone selling these units should first run them a few weeks 24-7 in a lab to assure they don't degrade.

Other notes. Russellgavel of yahoo.com has been testing one and had troubles. A Canadian fellow I know is still trying to get his to work as of november 6 2009. djmikewalsh of aol.com has done a lot of research into hho boost. Many people say the car computer eventually conspires to reduce the mileage after a gain. I think the best test would be a dyno test – that would take away the variable of the road, the pump and the driver. Sean says he will eventually do one.

NOTE NEWSFLASH late November 7th, Sean called me up very irrate about the above page. I tried to negotiate him giving me his comments to post or him at least telling me specifically what he felt was false or half truths. Since he concluded the abusive conversations with “If you don't take that page down tonight, I sweat to F____ing God I will go to my lawyer tomorrow to sue you” - I really don't think I want to deal with him anymore. Had this not happened, I would have been game to try a new system he said he mailed to me. I plan to mail that back after he sends me postage and money for a scan gage he said he’d pay me back for. I may well just not offer to do any more testing of any more HHO mileage boost devices.

I would love for this stuff to be able to be proven to really work. I'd much rather see us not have to kill the economy of the civilized world by hemorrhaging much money to country's that hate us for poison that kills us and our planet. I personally would eventually like to see all fuel burning engines off the road and some way found for safe clean electric power to run electric cars and trucks in a sustainable world that doesn't kill our economy using poison from the ground that we are running out of any how.

It is unfortunate that most people selling HHO boost systems are crooks. The biggest time criminal promoting false mileage boost technology has been Dennis Lee who has over the last 8 years sold devices with names or companies including BWT, Genesis, UCSA, GEET, TEEG, HAFC, and MMPG. Information on HAFC - The perpetrators now are trying to sell something called MMPG

Following are comments in small text size from other sources.  Anyone is welcome to provide concise opinions here on either side of the belief issue:

Re: results of testing hydrogen boost system from Hydrogen Assist De

My name is Dustin Pereslete - founder of DP Engineering And DesignWorks, LLC., and former 30% partner of Hydrogen Assist Development.  After several heated conflicts and incidences of verbal abuse, I resigned my partnership with Sean's company.  He has since threatened to sue me, so I speak here at great financial risk.  Nonetheless, during my time working with H.A.D. and Eric Krieg, I had first hand knowledge of the experience.  I personally helped to install Sean's wet cell titanium design that Eric tested on his car.  Previous to my involvement, Eric had installed the system himself and there were several issues with the install that I helped to correct.  I did not modify his computer or sensors in any way.  I personally ran tests before delivering the car to Eric, and rode with him when he ran his first test.  Prior to delivering the car, we did tests that resulted in 40+ MPG repeatedly.   The day I ran the test with Eric we got 40MPG.  These initial results were very encouraging, but we all agreed short runs were not accurate enough.  Several full tank, long distance runs were needed for verification.   Following results - which Eric has shared - began to wane.  The particulate material Eric began to observe in the bottom of his tank was the Mixed Metal Oxide coating on the titanium substrate coming off.  Eric also experienced problems maintaining proper current and fluid levels in the system.  These issues help explain the drop in mileage as time went on.  The MMO coating on the plates is essential to high quality gas production. Since the design was not built according to the correct parameters of the material itself, it began to prematurely fail.  This was most unfortunate since it was apparent that the process itself was having a very positive effect on mileage initially.  Should this issue be resolved, I believe that the positive results could be maintained for a much longer period.  I have been working on that solution with my own materials supplier.   I have solved the fluxuating current and compromised coating adhesion issues.  It is my hope that Eric's stressful negotiations with Sean will not discourage him from testing a properly built unit in the future. I have looked over the contents of this page and feel that the information Eric has posted here is accurate and honest.

Eric,

It is unfortunate that you agreed to perform tests
for Drazin and SafeHHO. NONE of the faults you
experienced with the Xtreme HHO unit were due to YOUR
'improper maintenance.' The fault is the Titanium
MMO coated plates that he is attempting to use for an
application they are not designed to tolerate.

He's using 'Titanium' as a new sales 'buzzword' to
justify his ridiculously high prices for a product
that is prone to early failure. His recent efforts
to resort to an acidic electrolyte rather than the
formerly basic solution, is a last-ditch attempt to
solve the very short lifetimes of the Titanium-MMO
plates in a process for which they were never designed
to function.

Essentially, his operation is a scam which will exploit
those who are insufficiently knowledgeable. At a very
high, and technically non-justifiable, cost.

If you want to continue exploring the benefits of
Hydrogen-Oxygen input to your automobile engine with
manufactured units ready for installation, there are
reputable sources.

Using hydrogen from on board creation has been around for decades and has never worked. Hydrogen added from external sources has had some good results but is not economical.
The idea is to add hydrogen and increase the burn rate. This would lessen the burn time so that the spark could be retarded and therefor increase the fuel efficiency.
Many installs on carburated engines had the mixture leaned so that there would be a measurable economy but over time the engine was damaged.
Many of those companies were sued.
