WEATHER WIMPS "This cold front moving from the north west is sure to innundate an already burdened snow clearing. We recommend all people to start slitting there wrists now. . . " I'm so sick of all those good-looking morons spouting off about the snow. When there not pumping us full of fear about muggers, chemicals, and serbians, it's seasonal climate kvetching. There disaster-victim oriented fear mongering has all the lifeless mindless morons parroting the same knee jerk reaction "oh poor us look at this weather" -stupied sissified imbeciles. Personally, I think the weather has been great. Natures conapy looks lovely in white. There's a special beautiful pristine sanctity of a fresh snow fall. I thought a few hours of candles a small price for such a spectactular shimerring crystal coating. This season I was able to do cross country ice skating, I skated sometimes pulling my kids (with bike helmets ) for miles in the park -which was ofcourse nearly emptied of people. Try telling a Minesotean accustomed to -20 even -60 that "it's 20 degrees, I can't go out in this" They'd laugh at you for being a light weight loser who's missing out on a balmy day. Yup, This season, I got in some great hockey playing lunch time with friends at work. And although It wouldn't be right to go winter backpacking and leave Ellen with the kids I'd guess I've gotten in about 100 miles of cross country skiing in (some pulling the kiddie sled) I think our favorite part of the winter was when we got a foot of that nice wet snow, I built my kids a 10 foot high snow fort. We had a blast Winter has been a blessing to humanity. We owe most technological acheivements since the middle ages to it. It's not politicaly correct to say this anymore but, engines, metalurgy, printing presses, mass production, the power industry, etc were invented in northern countries with cold climates. Surviving through a winter required more than just saving up food. Those who survived were instilled with a sense of innovation forged from a harsh land. That which does not kill you makes you stronger. Besides has anyone here seen a fly or a mosquitto in the last month. Winter should be a time to take advantage of, or at least to go with the flow, it's not a time to subject yourself to gutless griping control freaks. The next time you look out side at a froozen thermometer, don't think "oh no it's so cold out there" think "Well golly, arn't I blessed to live in a heated dwelling" When you see snow on the roads dont whine "oh poor me I have to drive in this . . this mess" think "damn, arn't I lucky to have a heated car to drive in -far more expeditious and comfortable than how most humans have had to travell" A minor inconveinence on the way to work should be a time of contemplation about nature momentarily taming our wastefull fast paced way of life. Come on, get a life. wake up you live in a temperate zone, If your going to whine about the cold in winter why don't you whine that there's not enough light when it's dark. If snows falling on you, don't fuss, if bombs or mortors are falling on you -well thats a reason to complain. Or if this is the start of the next ice age -OK maybe then I'd whine.
